Malaysian socio-demographic characteristics, mean haemoglobin levels and BMI distribution of the monthly transfused group (MTG) and non-monthly transfused group (NMTG) thalassemia patients

Background: Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder characterized by insufficient haemoglobin level due to mutation in the globin chains causing anaemia with iron overload and most common haemoglobinopathy Malaysia. They are grouped as transfusion dependent non-dependent according their requirement. The frequency of thalassemia transfusions can be discriminated further into monthly non-monthly group. Objective: To analyze socio-demographic characteristic, levels BMI distribution after classifying patients transfused group (MTG), (NMTG) comparing healthy individual control Methods Materials: This was prospective cross-sectional study gathering data on MTG NMTG from clinic Ampang Hospital them individuals Faculty Medicine Health Sciences, Universiti Putra embarked between August October 2020.
